From "Kansas City Disparity Study — Findings and Next Steps"

Go to the project

KCMO, please utilize the outreach recommendations provided by your community. These are suggestions repeatedly offered by Hickman Mills United Neighborhoods for the City to gain a better following and more input on City related events without creating too much paper trash.

Communication Avenues:

Digital signs at City Offices posting information

Billboards throughout the City

QR codes digitally placed in City ads

Church bulletins

District newsletters

Center for Neighborhoods newsletter

Direct Email notifications

Links/QR codes on posters at City events, elevators, public parking garages and local transportation hubs

All local News Stations

311 website/Nixle

KC Star (online and tangible versions)

The Pitch

The Zoo

The Martin City Telegraph

Coffee News

MCPL library bulletins

KCPL library locations

Community Center bulletins

Sports arena/Concert announcements

Direct Text links (to those who sign up) to KCMO surveys

Announcements made at local schools/colleges/vocational learning centers asking notifying residents about City surveys/studies/speakeasy/meetings,etc.

We hope KCMO will better utilize the various avenues of communication available to gain a better following of City sponsored meetings/hearings/input forums and to help ensure that residents across the City are aware of these events and the need for information and/or feedback.

Pertaining to the study, disparity in getting out the information needed to collect the measureable information is a challenge when so few residents participate.
