Independence Ave / Bi-State Sustainable Reinvestment Corridor
From "District 3 Mobility Plan"
Go to the project
I'm shocked that Independence Ave isn't even considered in the draft mobility plan. It's prominently featured in the High-Injury Network because of how dangerous this area is for motorists and active transportation users. Independence Ave is also being studied for enhanced bus rapid transit + active transportation facilities in the Bi-State Sustainable Reinvestment Corridor project (https://www.marc.org/bi-state-sustainable-reinvestment-corridor).
I think it's a huge oversight to not have included this as a consideration in the public engagement thus far, especially if one of the goals is to guide mobility investments in the 3rd district going forward.

Absolutely agree. It's basically a highway cutting off the entire Northeast from the rest of the city. I take a huge risk crossing this 2X / day on bike on my work commute, weekends to get anywhere in the city.
