My dream would be for a bike/ped corridor following the entire Blue River watershed. This project should advance that goal.
The entire Kansas City region is starved for outdoor recreation opportunities. Cyclists already use Blue River Road despite speeding cars, counterproductive bike lanes, and illegal dumping. How many people would use the corridor if it were intentionally designed and invested in?
Every piece of successful recreational infrastructure in this city has one thing in common - it is closed to vehicles. Cliff Drive, Rock Island, Little Blue, Trolley Track - all of these places are used by a wide variety of people and activities. The Blue River could tie all of these pieces together into one system, while advancing the worthy goals to Renew the Blue.
