KC on the Move

What Should Transportation Look Like in Kansas City by 2050?

Kansas City is creating a unified transportation vision to guide how people move around our city today and into the future.

KC on the Move: 2050 Strategic Transportation Plan will shape:

  • How we travel throughout Kansas City
  • How transportation investments/improvements are prioritized
  • How the city prepares for future growth and changing mobility needs

Whether you walk, bike, drive, ride transit, use a wheelchair, or move goods across the city, your experiences and ideas matter. Community input will help identify priorities and guide future transportation decisions that support safe, reliable, and connected travel for everyone.

This Fact Sheet describes the work to create a safer, more equitable, better connected, and more reliable transportation system, ensuring residents of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds can travel safely and conveniently.

This Existing Conditions Analysis examines the infrastructure, travel patterns, demographic characteristics, land use, and environmental factors that shape how people and goods move throughout the city today. The findings create a shared understanding of opportunities, constraints, and emerging trends that will inform the development of KC on the Move 2050 and guide future investment strategies across the City.
